Only thing to worry about here really, is Stop. Otherwise if you have good defenses you should be fine here.
He has 999,999 HP so this fight is a marathon no matter how you go about it. Only real way to make this fast in HD version, is to have Finale, with no escapes (guaranteed 99,999 damage provided you have never escaped from a fight). But you'd need to get past Trema to get the Garment Grid for it anyway. So either you'd need two playthroughs to fight him with it, or fight him in the Fiend Arena.
Since i didnt get to show my stats before this fight:
-Valiant Lustre Garment Grid: +20 to Def and MDef (another 40 to both from spherechanging)
-Crystal Gloves: +60 Def
-Defense Bracer: Auto Protect and Auto Shell
Stats before spherechange (all 3 are at lvl 99)
In Dark Knight Dressphere:
Strength: 175
Defense: 231
Magic Defense: 124
(the rest of the stats are not important here)
The damage of Darkness is affected by the Strength stat. I end up using Nonpareil to increase my Strength some more.
I also used Mighty Guard+ at some point in the fight, which increases my Def and MDef even further
