In today's show we look at Norwegian MTB (Motor Torpedo Boat) Operations out of Shetland.

Commander Senior Grade (Ret.) Jan Tore Nilsen, aged 59, resides in Broennoeysund. He is currently employed as a civilian at the Broennoeysund Registry Unit, but previously served for nearly 25 years in the Norwegian Armed Forces. During his military career, he gained extensive experience, including Norwegian MTBs, at the Navy's training center KNM Tordenskjold, the Norwegian Joint Headquarters, the Armed Forces Staff College, and the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy. Among other roles, he served as a commanding officer of the Navy’s torpedo boats and as a principal lecturer in International Politics at the Naval Academy. Nilsen is a graduate of the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy and the Armed Forces Staff College and holds civilian degrees at the master's and bachelor's levels in Political Science and History. He has contributed to several books, articles, and opinion pieces in the fields of international politics and military history. Most recently, he published the book Vikings at War for the CIA: Norwegian Contributions to the CIA’s Secret Small-Boat Operations During the Vietnam War.
