Remembering Dr. Meldrum: Jeff on What Started His Fascination with Bigfoot

Описание: Dr. Jeff Meldrum, professor of Anatomy and Anthropology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Idaho State University, passed away on September 10th, 2025.

While those close to him knew him for many things, the world knew him for as perhaps the foremost Sasquatch expert. Dr. Meldrum wore that title proudly, even at personal expense, and often, ridicule. We can all learn something essential from that -- Dr. Meldrum had the courage to be true to himself and his passions, no matter what anyone else thought. He met those that did think differently than him, disagreed with him, and even mocked him, with grace and poise.

The guy was an intellectual who honored his personal convictions and a class act.

In honor of his life and work, we wanted to share this clip from our interview with Dr. Meldrum. It's a short clip, but we feel like it captures his enthusiasm and something crucial to who he was.

As it relates to all of us here at The Backcountry Manifesto, Dr. Meldrum was kind enough to be one of our very first guests on the show, and his interview did more for our channel than we ever could have expected -- in a lot of ways, his interview got our foot in the door. We'll look back fondly on our short time with Dr. Meldrum, and he will doubtlessly be missed by many.
