Well, hello people, Zeppelin's Presence in da house! (I'm really running out of intros here) After one exhausting, dull weekend I'm back for some live performances of the mighty Zepp!
Remember the 80's? Even if you weren't alive you just gotta miss it; Robert's new-age hair cut, Jimmy's thin look due to heroin, Jonesy's hair cut, short as hell, and Bonzo, in which time had the fanciest look of all; Bonzo was alive and well, Disco was still emerging, Maddona was three years away, and Led had just started an European tour, life was pretty much great
Can you imagine Zepp in the 80's? I simply can't! hahaha Bonzo with eletronic drums, Jonesy quiting bass playing remaining only with synths, Jimmy writing mor hard rock songs, Percy writing awful ballads (For Jimmy and Percy, that's what pretty much happened hahaha), that would have been hilarious! But, as for this upload:
Hannover, June 24th; As you know right from the start of the tour Plant's voice was instable, good at some shows, bad at others, a bit like '73; The reason for that being his voice getting ''older'', much more mature, so he's obviously going to have problems with the older tunes, but still, doing well, and despite any eventual bad performance by Percy, Bonzo, Jonesy and Jimmy were there!
As for Hannover (Yes, I wasn't talking about the show yet hahaha; I can be very dispersed sometimes), it features the usual setlist; There's no negative point tonight, I can surely say! That's why this is one great show from the short 80's tour (TerrenceBootlegs, subscribe, will confirm that) and a very nice show to be listened to!
For the opening of the shows they chose Train Kept a Rollin', which I find quite sentimental, since I read somewhere that this was the first tune they played the first time they met, and they ''Blew the room away with their loud sound'' (Opening space to my theory that they knew it would be their last tour), which in here sounds, probably, just as explosive, Jimmy is doing some heavy experimental work with his guitar
Nobody's Fault But Mine follows up in which Percy doesn't sound very good, and even fails at the harmonica solo; Black Dog, however, shows one hell of a improvement at his voice and shows, once more, a unusual, yet awesome, Jimmy's experimental guitar playing
In the Evening, despite the voice improvement, features lots of cracks and a very poor performance by Robert; The Rain Song, of course, is musically beautiful, despite mumbles by Percy
Before a very nice performance of Hot Dog Bonzo drums a bit of Moby Dick, and when asked to play it says: ''No Way'' (Oh, why not Bonzo????); The Hot Dog + All My Love section shows how Robert has much less difficulty when singing the new songs
Trampled Under Foot brings back the voice problems; Jonesy, who hasn't been heard much so far, suddenly emerges to do a synth solo, sounding awesome. Also, features one solid drumming by Bonzo (Great performance); Since I've Been Loving You is rough, a bit, may I say, emotionless
''On drums there could only be John Bonham'', says Percy before a quite uninspired version of Achilles Last Stand, even though Jimmy's soloing is doing fine!
Kashmir is odd; Stairway to Heaven has one fucking great solo by Jimmy, besides, again, a solid drumming by Bonzo; Percy actually nails the last verses very fine
The Rock and Roll + Communication Breakdown encore is a very good show highlight! Percy's voice magically recovered and is sounding truly good, mailing Rock and Roll; It's worth the mention of Jimmy's solo in CB!
Enjoy my good friends!
