Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this TowSmart BAJA Collection Ball Mount with the two inch Hitch Ball and the Hitch Lock for two inch hitches. Has a 5,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this ball mount will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right here is what'll slide into your vehicle's two-inch hitch receiver. And they do include a hitch lock which will help prevent theft.

This hitch lock pin diameter is 5/8 of an inch, and just to demonstrate, comes with two barrel keys. But basically what you would do is after you insert this into your two-inch hitch, line your holes up, and then for added security, just go ahead and put your key in there, remove your lock, and slide this through one side through the holes, all the way to the other side, and actually you can take the key out and actually you can just push it on to lock it, and then put your cap on there to cover it, and now it's locked on there. Keep anybody from removing it from your hitch. And then when you go to open it, just take your barrel key, line it up, just turn it a 1/4 of a turn, and you can remove it and then remove that just like that. So, very easy to install and remove.

Now, the ball mount is designed with unique X-shaped shank you can see here, so that water can drain out of the receiver while it's installed, prevents any seize up of the ball mount in the hitch receiver. This does offer both a drop and a rise position to ensure level towing. The maximum drop you'll get, which is the position right here that you're in, has is two inches, and that's measured from the top of the shank to the top of the ball platform. Now, if you do flip this over into a rise position, you would need to remove this ball and re-torque it down, use it in and flip it up to the correct position for the rise, and it'll get you a maximum rise of 3/4 of an inch, again, from the top here to the top of the ball platform. Now, one of the neat features they use on this, I wanted show you in up close a little better, we'll zoom in.

But they use a lock rail system on this ball platform, 'cause then if you do wanna change your ball around when you remove it, you're gonna have to re-torque it down, and instead of having to use two wrenches, this will get you down to a single wrench because these rails right here if you notice, on the edges, they'll line up with the wrench flats on the ball, so if you do happen to switch it into the rise, you'll break this loose, flip the ball over, and then those flats will end up in the inside of these ridges, so when you go to torque it down, those ridges is what's gonna hold the ball in place. You don't have to have a second wrench on there. So, that's a nice feature. They call it the Lock Rail design. Now, this is a durable steel, has a nice black matte finish to it to resist rust and corrosion.

Application, again, it's designed to fit into two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers. Gross towing weight capacity is 5,000 pounds, tongue weight capacity is 500 pounds, and the last thing to give you is just the length. And a ball mount, when they say the length on a ball mount, that's always the measurement from the center of the ball hole to the center of the ball itself, or center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. So, basically, center here to the center of the ball, there's your 8 1/2 inches for the length.
