1. 去埃及旅行安全嗎？

在我看來，冬天是去埃及的最佳時節。開羅白天的溫度在攝氏20到25度左右，但晚上會降到攝氏10度。所以一定要帶一件輕薄的外套和帽子。

1. How safe it is travelling to Egypt ?
Tourism brings it more than 4% of the national GDP, employing 12% of the labor force. So ensuring the safety of tourists is ulmost important to the Egpytian government. This is particular true for tourists from Europe, US and Japan. Armed guards are assigned to large tour group. They are easily spotted, wearing a suite walking in the Sahara. This is the first time I been to Egypt and I never felt unsafe, particularly I was with a small tour group with a local guide and driver.

2. How about those scams one saw on the Internet ?
Unfortunitately, there's a grain of truth to some of them. Promised you one price for x number of items. At the end, its the same price PER item. As long as the amount is not too hugh, I just laugh it off as "I told you so". These kind of scams are common in third world countries. If you were scammed, just don't take it too personally and ruined the trip. Now I did go to a carpet wearving school, but I didn't buy anything. $10,000 silk carpet just not my thing.
I found in general, Egyptians are very friend and eager to help. They just like a little bit of reward in return, like tipping for a few dollars

3. What to wear while travelling to Egypt in December ?
In my opinion, Winter time is perfect time going to Egypt. In Cairo, day time temperature is about 20 to 25 degree Celsius. But it can drop to 10 degree C at night time. So do bring a light jacket and hat.

4. How much Egyptian Pounds to exchange ?
I couldn't buy Egyptian Pounds anywhere in the San Francisco Area. Tried a few large banks and even the money exchange at SFO. Turns out there are "Hotel Banks" in the hotels I stayed in, with 24 hours tellers ! I only brought $200 worth of Egyptian Pounds splited between me and my wife. I got more 20 Pounds notes just to use for toilet. It's cheaper than in most countries in EU, which can cost 1 to 2 Euro. Big expenses such as dining out or buying souvenir, I used credit card.

5. Do be generous to the beggar kids, more so than the hotel luggage handler.
