In this video case study, energy consultant, Michael Snow, outlines a project he completed for RMIT University to test and lower the heat hot water temperatures in Building 80 in Melbourne as part of efforts to install heat pumps and electrify the building.
Lowering the heating hot water of a commercial building can not only reduce the energy required for the heating, if successfully done, it can dramatically lower the capacity (and therefore cost) of a heat pump system to replace a gas boiler, thereby improving the business case for electrification.
