Описание: The Great Stink was horrific in Victorian London. The city's toilet waste caused chaos – how over many centuries, the city sanitation consisted of little more than emptying stinking slops from houses straight into pits, where it was conveyed into court, alley and street to be washed by channels into the River Thames – and it took until the 19th Century for a great engineering project to remove the filth from London's streets.
