Описание: Belarus migrants attempt crossing the Polish border at night after Tuesday's standoff at the Poland-Belarus border between thousands of stranded migrants and the Polish border forces.

Polish officials on Twitter posted videos showing the crossing point compound has been cleared on the Belarusian side.

The migrants are seemingly returning to their former makeshift camp located a few hundred metres further along the borderline, the Polish border guard announced on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Polish authorities, more than 20,000 Polish security service members from the police, border guard or army are reinforcing the border where migrants have gathered near a crossing at the Polish town of Kuznica.

The Interior Ministry said a policeman was seriously injured by an object thrown across the border and was in hospital with a suspected fractured skull.

An estimated 4,000 migrants are near the border and many say Belarusian authorities are not allowing them to return to Minsk.

The EU says Belarus is encouraging migrants to cross the border in revenge for sanctions over a crackdown on protests last year against President Alexander Lukashenko's contested re-election.

Belarus, a close Russian ally, said assertions it had fuelled the border crisis were "absurd".

Polish police said seven officers were injured at the Kuznica-Bruzgi border crossing on November 16 as migrants threw stones from the Belarusian side and Polish forces responded with water cannons and tear gas.

The clashes came a day after the European Union agreed to broaden its scope for imposing sanctions on Belarus, allowing any individuals or entities “that facilitate the illegal crossing of the EU’s external borders” through Belarus to face sanctions.

A spokesman for the Belarusian foreign ministry said accusations that the country was orchestrating a migration crisis were “absurd.”

Police released this video from the border crossing and said two of the injured officers had been hospitalised.
