In this video, I visualized the global spread of Wendy's from the first franchise in Columbus, Ohio (1969) to the present day. The dataset captures both its rapid expansion into new countries and the many moments when it exited particular markets.
Each pin marks the very first Wendy's in a country. As the animation plays, countries turn red when Wendy's enters and grey when it departs. A counter tracks the total number of countries and territories with Wendy's over time, while a timeline shows the rise, peak, and retreats of one of the world’s most recognizable brands.
