Formed in 2013 by singer-songwriter Justin Osborne. The name "Susto" is derived from a Spanish word that translates to "fright", a reflection of the emotional depth that runs through their music.

Susto's debut self-titled album was released in 2014 and received acclaim for its authentic sound and introspective songwriting. This was followed by "& I'm Fine Today" in 2017, which marked a turning point for the band, showcasing a more expansive sound and bringing them to a wider audience. The album also allowed the band to explore more complex arrangements and delve deeper into their characteristic exploration of mental health and spirituality.

Susto is also known for their dynamic live performances and has toured extensively across the United States and Europe, building a dedicated fan base. They've also been featured in major music festivals and have opened for bands like Band of Horses and The Lumineers.

In 2019, Susto released "Ever Since I Lost My Mind," produced by Ian Fitchuk, which continued to push their musical boundaries and lyrical depth. The album was praised for its lush production and Osborne's powerful songwriting, which digs into his personal experiences with life on the road, relationships, and self-reflection.
