In this part 1 or a 2 part episode, we travelled to a Lithuanian neighborhood to visit with Linas. Linas is the proud owner of the marvelous and underrated ElectroVoice Sentry 3 hybrid horn system. We are very impressed with the sound. The Sentry III system was a worthy competitor to the Klipsch Cornwall, Altec Model 19 and JBL L300 that continues to fly under the radar today.

In part 1 we give our impression of Linas' system and clarify our recommendations. We also included a brief and "simplified Introduction" of the Thiele and Small Parameters and perhaps an even more "simplified" description of vented box and sealed box speaker design prior to the monumental work by Drs. Thiele and Small. Please don't take us to task on that. The reason why we felt its important for us to discuss T&S parameters is we believe, ElectroVoice is the first major American Speaker manufacturer to adapt the new technology.

The Thiele and Small papers, published in the Journal of Audio Engineering Society from 1971 to 1974 can be purchased from the JAES. Of course, the prior works on Harry Olson, Leo Beranak, John Hilliard and others all paved the way for the development of this science.
