"Sports writers have run out of Saturday night cliches to describe them; lowly, humbled, disheartened..."
Nationwide's Philip Tibenham visits Bradford Park Avenue, the football team currently at the bottom of the Fourth Division, propping up the rest of the English football league. In fact, Bradford Park Avenue have been bottom of the Fourth Division for three seasons, and if temporary manager Don McCalman's charges finish bottom again this season, they may be refused readmission to the league. Bradford Park Avenue haven't won a game away from home for 62 matches, and currently hold the worst record in the history of the football league. To add insult to injury, 19 of the club's players recently handed in a transfer request, owing to interference in the team selection by the club's director.
How did it come to all this? Philip Tibenham interviews the club's director, Herbert Metcalf and former player-manager, Laurie Brown.
Clip taken from Nationwide, originally broadcast on BBC One, 13 November, 1969.
