20 Jahre Tamburi Mundi Frame Drum Festival – da ist so einiges passiert!
Rückblickend kann man sagen, dass Tamburi Mundi mehr als „nur“ ein Festival ist: Es ist eine Vision, die sich immer wieder neu definiert und sich neu orientiert, eine Vision, die – mit dem Gepäck von „gestern“ in der Hand - in die Zukunft reist.

Diese Dokumentation zeigt die gesamte Geschichte von Tamburi Mundi, zeigt Hintergründe, die Leidenschaft, die in diesem Festival steckt und die es weiter verbreitet: von der Grundidee, den Anfängen, der verschiedenen Entwicklungsstufen über die Schwierigkeiten über die Jahre – mit viel Musik und Konzertmitschnitten.

Wir hatten mit Tamburi Mundi das Glück, dass Fao Torres und Ya Chien Lin sich bereit erklärt hatten, zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum einen kurzen Trailer zusammenzuschneiden. Bald merkten sie, dass sie sehr viel wertvolles und spannendes Material hatten. Und so entschieden wir gemeinsame, aus dem kurzen 3-minütigen Trailer, eine über 90 minutige Dokumentation zu produzieren.

Fao Torres und Ya Chien Lin kamen 2024 speziell für dieses Projekt zwei Wochen von Bogota nach Freiburg zum Tamburi Mundi Festival. Sie führten Interviews mit allen, die zum Festival gehören:
Alle anwesenden Musiker und Musikerinnen, Kurs-Teilnehmende aus den verschiedensten Ländern, Mitarbeitende vom Tamburi Mundi Team, Volunteers und viele weitere Personen.
Daraus entstand ein bunter Querschnitt, der zeigt, wie Tamburi Mundi „funktioniert“ und was das Besondere an diesem Festival ist.

Eine Bestandsaufnahme, die den Spirit und die bunte Vielfalt lebendig werden lässt!

20 years of Tamburi Mundi Frame Drum Festival - a lot has happened!
Looking back, we can say that Tamburi Mundi is more than “just” a festival: it is a vision that is constantly redefining and reorienting itself, a vision that - with the baggage of “yesterday” in hand - is traveling into the future.

This documentary shows the entire history of Tamburi Mundi, shows the background, the passion that lies in this festival and that it continues to spread: from the basic idea, the beginnings, the various stages of development through the difficulties over the years - with lots of music and concert recordings.

With Tamburi Mundi, we were lucky that Fao Torres and Ya Chien Lin agreed to edit a short trailer for the 20th anniversary. They soon realized that they had a lot of valuable and exciting material. And so we decided together to produce a 90-minute documentary from the short 3-minute trailer.

Fao Torres and Ya Chien Lin came from Bogota to Freiburg for two weeks in 2024 especially for this project at the Tamburi Mundi Festival. They conducted interviews with everyone involved in the festival:
All the musicians present, course participants from various countries, members of the Tamburi Mundi team, volunteers and many other people.
The result is a colorful cross-section that shows how Tamburi Mundi “works” and what makes this festival so special.

An inventory that brings the spirit and the colorful diversity to life!
