‘Ghost houses’: Labor cracking down on foreigners owning property in Australia

Sky News host James Macpherson says the Labor Government is going to crack down on “foreigners owning residential properties” in Australia.
“Another part of this migration overhaul is Labor cracking down on so-called ‘ghost houses’,” Mr Macpherson said.
Foreign investors who buy and leave homes empty in Australia will be facing a large tax hike.
Under the new plan – the application fees foreign investors pay when purchasing an established home will triple.
If the property is left empty for six months they will have to pay a vacancy fee which will be double the tripled application fee.
“We’ve got a housing crisis – is that going to fix the problem?” Mr Macpherson questioned.
