📍 Summary:
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, attended the graduation ceremony of the 17th class of the Hazrat Abu Ubaida National Defense University Military Academy, where he delivered a wide-ranging speech combining military, political, and economic themes. He congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of professional training alongside commitment to national defense, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence. He urged them to uphold Islamic and Afghan values in practice, stressing sincerity, piety, and respect for the rights and well-being of citizens.
Baradar highlighted that the Islamic Emirate pursues an economy-centered policy and believes in regional and global economic engagement within its defined principles. He said Afghanistan seeks constructive interaction with all countries but emphasized that long-term political and economic interests depend on mutual respect for national values and sensitive boundaries. According to him, stability and cooperation are preferable to confrontation, and regional prosperity requires balanced relations rather than pressure or interference.
In a major economic announcement, Baradar gave encouraging news to investors, stating that new investment opportunities in emerging sectors will soon come with full tax exemptions ranging from one to five years, depending on the scale of investment. He said this step is designed to stimulate new industries, strengthen the national economy, and move Afghanistan closer to self-sufficiency. He also noted that the Ministry of Industry and Commerce has been instructed to accelerate the distribution of land for small, medium, and large industrial projects and to provide the necessary facilities.
Addressing security and foreign relations, Baradar insisted that the Emirate’s policy is not “deceptive,” but rooted in institutions guided by Islamic law. He declared that Afghanistan does not seek to harm any country and does not accept harm from others, warning that hostile intentions would bring consequences. Referencing history, he said Afghanistan has never been an “easy target,” using strong historical imagery to underline the country’s resistance to foreign domination.
Meanwhile, Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, described a recent UNAMA report stating that 613 Afghan civilians were killed or injured in 2025 due to Pakistani military attacks as “close to reality.” He said women, children, and even athletes were among the victims. Fitrat added that the continuation of such incidents has caused serious public concern and called on the international community and responsible institutions to take effective steps to prevent civilian casualties and violations of national sovereignty.
