82,5KG | 1990 | World Weightlifting Championships (Budapest, Hungary)

Описание: 6th session of World Weightlifting Championships 1990 (Budapest, Hungary).
In the 82,5kg's category there was a battle between soviet world and european champ Altimurat Orazdurdiev vs. also soviet 1987 world silver medalist Sergey Li vs. 1989 world champ bulgarian Kiril Kunev.
In the snatch: Orazdurdiev won with his second attempt, but made 5kg gap with his third lift (172,5kg). In the clean & jerk Sergey Li made a 197,5kg opening attempt, it was red lights due to juries, but soviet coaches didn't realize it.. the weight went up. So they had to ask the juries to repeat the attempt with lower weight, and they allowed it! Moreover, Sergey Li became the world champion in the c&j with 207,5kg, Orazdurdiev became second and first in overall.

After competition interviews:
Gold medalist - Altimurat Orazdurdiev (URS, 21 yo.):
"I'm really happy for that I brought glory to my homeland, Turkmenia. I'm sure I was able to lift more in the snatch with 2,5kg, so 175kg. I tried to jerk 210kg because I thought that can't be a problem for me to jerk it, I was wrong."

Silver medalist - Sergey Li (URS, 28 yo.):
"I don't understand why was my first c&j attempt "no lift". I jerk always like the same. By the way, during a competition I let my coach to choose the weights for my attempts. That is his job, mine is to LIFT that weight!."

Bronze medalist - Kiril Kunev (BUL, 23 yo.):
"If there wasn't that little break because of the mistake of soviet coaches, then I think 200kg wouldn't be a problem for me. I don't know if there will be any changes in the results later, after announcement of results is hapenned. But I know that leaders of my team filed a protest."
