Skating hard on a trip to a new destination requires a particular mindset. You have to be able to deal with what’s in front of you there and then. Spot repairs have to be of the jerry-rigged, ad-hoc variety, and the chance to come back tomorrow is usually off the table. Tomorrow you'll be somewhere down the road, nursing a heel bruise and wondering where dinner is going to come from.

It is not for everyone, to be sure. Travelling and skating is a real test of resilience. It becomes a character study of who can roll outside of their comfort zone. You’ve got to choose wisely with whom you travel and where you go.
