In today's Life Guardians Squad mission, a Siberian Husky named Max slipped while crossing a glacier field. He fell 80 feet into a narrow crevasse, landing on a tiny shelf of ice. With temperatures dropping to -25°C and the crack narrowing, we had to act fast.
We set up a "Tripod Vertical Rescue System" to lower a rescuer into the darkness. The walls were sheer blue ice, and the dog was terrified. One wrong move, and he would fall off the ledge into the bottomless depth below.
