Misty morning along the road between Belfast and Dullstroom. Then big storm over Kimberley, in the Northern Cape. We stop at Kambro Farmstall, outside Britstown, and at Fish Hoek Beach. The weather forecast across South Africa today is as follows:
A stubborn heat wave will continue baking northern KwaZulu-Natal Province through today with persistently high temperatures making life uncomfortable, while severe thunderstorms are forecast to develop over the eastern Eastern Cape Province and south-western KwaZulu-Natal Province inland areas this afternoon, bringing heavy downpours that could flood low-lying roads and bridges along with damaging winds, frequent lightning, and hail that may damage homes, farms, and infrastructure, though coastal areas should stay clear of the worst weather. Meanwhile, the extreme northeastern parts of the Northern Cape Province face an extremely high fire danger, with hot, dry conditions that mean any spark from a cigarette, vehicle, or lightning strike could quickly turn into a fast-moving wildfire that’s difficult to control.
