In Python, comments are used to add explanations or notes within the code to make it more readable for developers. Python supports two types of comments:

1. Single-line comments: These comments begin with the hash (#) symbol and continue until the end of the line. Anything after the # symbol on the same line is considered a comment and is ignored by the Python interpreter.

2. Multi-line comments: Python doesn't have a built-in syntax for multi-line comments like some other programming languages. However, multi-line strings (docstrings) enclosed in triple quotes (''' or """) are often used for this purpose. While they are not technically comments, they serve the same purpose because they are not executed by the interpreter.
