Two victims have died and at least one other is in critical condition after a student opened fire Thursday morning at a high school in Santa Clarita.
Police and firefighters responded at about 7:30 a.m. to Saugus High School, about 40 miles north of Los Angeles, followed by frightened parents who had heard reports of a shooter at the campus.
The deceased students were ages 14 and 16. At least three other patients remained hospitalized.
Sheriff Alex Villaneuva said the 16-year-old shooter, who was armed with a handgun, was transported to a hospital in grave condition. He shot himself in the head, Villanueva said.
