Neighbors near the Low Battery Seawall thankful for completion of project

Описание: CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The Low Battery Seawall project is finally complete after almost a decade of planning and building.

The ribbon cutting was on Wednesday, marking a major milestone for the city of Charleston. The process began in 2017 and was completed in early 2026 with a price tag of $71 million.

Cloudy and breezy, but nothing could dampen the mood here at the battery. After five years of construction, neighbors near this iconic spot say they are thankful their homes are now better protected from flooding, rising tides and storm surge.

“If you don't have a good foundation, you don't have much of a future,” said Ladson Mills, who lives downtown.
