If you want to become a Drug Inspector through UPSC, here’s what you need to know:
You can become a Drug Inspector at both Central and State levels.
At the Central Level, the Drug Inspector exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission).
But to be eligible for this exam, you must have a graduation degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or any science/engineering field related to Medical Devices.
This exam also includes 2 written tests, followed by an interview and a medical test.
At the State Level, the Drug Inspector exam is conducted by your State Public Service Commission.
For this too, you need a degree in Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
However, keep in mind that each state has its own exam pattern.
If you clear UPSC, you’ll be appointed under CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organization), while at the state level, you’ll be appointed under your State Drug Control Department.
Before we talk about salaries – this is Part-2 of my Career Guidance Series.
At the central level, your starting monthly salary can be around ₹60,000 to ₹70,000, while at the state level, it ranges between ₹40,000 to ₹50,000.
But remember, a Drug Inspector is not what you might be imagining.
A Drug Inspector’s job is to ensure the safety and quality of medicines through proper inspection.
