TVK chief Vijay may not be sworn in as Chief Minister immediately, as Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar is yet to be convinced that the party has secured the required majority to form the government, sources indicated. Despite the Congress extending support and expectations of backing from other parties, it may take a few more days for the numbers to fall in place.

The governor has dissolved the Assembly, and Vijay had earlier met him to stake claim to form the next government.

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which emerged as the single-largest party with 108 seats, requires at least 118 to secure a majority. With the Congress contributing five seats, the tally reaches 112, still short by six seats.
