I'm sure by now that everbody knows about the infamous Mew Glitch, but few are aware that you can actually Shiny Hunt the glitched Mew with enough patience.
Nobody has ever Shiny Hunted a Gen 1 Mew live on YouTube, and with Mew being my favourite Pokemon, I figured I had to be the one to take on the challenge.
The hunt started on September 13th, 2018, but I ended up taking an extended break to persue other interests.
After my brother ShinyMoltres73 caught a Gen 1 Shiny Moltres, my motivation was high, and I set out once again on January 14th 2019 to claim the blue mythical cat.
The next day, I switch to dual-hunting, and to my excitement, it shined after just 1,325 SRs.

Shiny hunting in Generation 1 Pokemon games is exciting because, well... shinies technically didn't exist back then. The way shinies are obtained is by checking their stats; if they match values that can be calculated with tools for each individual Pokemon such as PKHex, then there's a chance that it will be shiny when transferred to either the Generation 2 or Generation 7 games.
If it isn't clear what I was doing in this video, essentially I would battle the trainer with the slowpoke and defeat him. Next, I would walk out of the area, and my menu would open automatically. When closed, I encounter a Mew.
I would then throw a masterball at it and quickly check its stats. If the bottom 3 stats were 20, then I would level it up further to see if the numbers stayed consistent at level 20 (so for example, ATK SPD and DFS would now be 49)
If this were true, then it was a good chance that the Mew was shiny. If not, I would simply soft-reset my game, and start the process again.

This is by no means a detailed guide on how to Shiny Hunt Generation 1 Pokemon. I strongly suggest you look for tutorials online if you're interested in doing so yourself as finding another Pokemon with the same stats as my Mew will NOT mean it is a shiny.
