In 2016, David stood by his mother’s side both as her son and her pathologist, helping her navigate her breast cancer diagnosis. He had the knowledge, but she gave him a different perspective: a deeper appreciation for the patient’s experience. Then, life took an unexpected turn. He learned that, like his mother, he carried the BRCA2 Genetic mutations. Seven years later, at just 43, David was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

This is the story of his journey, not just as a hemapathologist who sees cancer every day, but as a patient who has lived it. He shares how his perspective has changed, what it's like to be on both sides of the diagnosis, and how digital pathology is transforming abstract medical concepts into real clarity and hope for patients around the world. He now dedicates clinic hours to meeting with patients, sharing their digital pathology images to help them better understand their disease.
