Brazilian Portuguese has some peculiarities when it comes to the sound (or sounds) of 'L'. In today's lesson, you will learn that the 'L' is pronounced differently depending on which letter comes after it, and also that when 'L' is at the beginning of a word, it is pronounced just as the 'L' in 'land'; however, at the end of a word, it may be pronounced as the final sound of 'how'.

Therefore, today you will learn:

how to pronounce the 'L' when it is at the beginning of a word
how to pronounce the 'L' when it is at the end of a word
how to pronounce the 'L' when it is followed by a vowel
how to pronounce the 'L' when it is followed by a consonant (other than 'H')
