The grammage or 'basis weight' of paper, board is determined by weighing a known area. Results are usually quoted as Gsm or g/m2.
Note- The choice of standards for testing is not limited to IS standards; organizations can use various alternatives like TAPPI, ASTM, Industrial Standard, etc. The selection depends solely on the preference of the organization.
