Welcome on board the empty sprinter coming from the workshop Zaanstraat in Amsterdam. This train need to be brought to Almere where it will start its first ride with passengers for the day. The train got maintained and cleaned in Amsterdam is is now ready for use again.
Before we may depart from the Zaanstraat we must call the train dispatcher allowing us to get to the first light signal in the end of the shunting yard. The shunting yard itself doesn't have any signals and every train movement must be reported at the train dispatcher so he knows what train is running from where to where on the shunting yard. Junctions on the the yard are set in the right position by a shunter or by the driver himself.
After permission to departure we can slowly get the train to move to the first light signal. The train dispatcher allowed us to get from our track to track 91 where the light signal is located. From there we can follow up all signals on the tracks again. The maximum speed on the shunting yard is 20km/h.
After departure you will see we are a little early on our schedule. This is pretty normal for empty trains. The train dispatcher can set the junctions in the right position early when no other trains need to use those tracks very soon. This is what happens today as wel.
In Amsterdam Central Station a train manager gets on board the train. He starts his first ride with passengers in Almere as well. Empty train are often used to get personal on the right locations as well.
After departure from Amsterdam you can enjoy the morning view. The sun is slowly rising and the views will be stunning. As said we are a little early on schedule, but this is no problem for other trains. This is why the train dispatcher gives us a free pass to continue. At Weesp our train is used for cleaning the junctions from rust as you can see. No at least we've been at good use for the train dispatcher as well.
There was a planned stop at Weesp but because there's no conflict with other train the train dispatcher gives us permission to continue to Almere already. This causes us to be 10 minutes ahead of schedule. And this is also the reason why we must wait before entering Almere Centrum. Our platform is still occupied by the Intercity to Amsterdam. Enjoy the sunrise! :D
In Almere we change trains and get on the Intercity to Zwolle. As you can see the windows are pretty dirty. Can't do anything about this because flies and other stuff get stuck to the windows of and ICM very soon. We are not allowed to clean them with a cleaning stick because that's too close to the overhead wires. Every now and then the windows of the ICM get extra cleaned at the workshops. But riding with a clean ICM window is pretty unique during summer.
With the Intercity we only make a stop at Lelystad Centrum and Zwolle. At Lelystad Opstel I spotted some dear on our track area and report this to the train dispatcher. Further on the route at the Drontermeertunnel we lower the speed a little by letting the train roll out for a few kilometers. This for a little extra comfort for the passengers. Air pressure is built up pretty fast in this tunnel at full speed. Miss calculation at creating the tunnel...
If you have any questions about the route, please let me know on the comments and I will come back on that later. Have a great weekend and tell your friends about this channel if you like. Cheers!
