Muscle Targeted: Triceps
Starting position:
Take a position with your feet at shoulder width and your arms hung loosely along your body.
Exercise:
From the starting position put the palm of one hand on the opposite shoulder. Use tour free hand to grab the elbow of the bent arm and use gentle pressure to push it towards your body. Push that hand to your body until you reach a position when you can feel stretching in your triceps and hold for about 30 seconds. Alternate hands.
Note:
Make sure your body posture is upright and your torso is firm. Avoid curving of your back. When you reach the furthermost position with maximum muscle stretch do not swing but rather keep the muscle in a fixed position.
Relax the stretched arm slowly and gradually.
Avoid involving the upper trapezius muscles.
Recommendation:
Warm up your muscles before you start stretching them.
