Name of the disease: Hepatitis
Causative organism: Hepatitis A, B, C, D, E and G
Characteristics of viruses: Hepatitis A, D, E and G transmits through contaminated water and food by Oro-Faecal route. Hepatitis B and C transmits through Blood and Sexual intercourse. It is also referred to as Serum Hepatitis. HBV and HCV also spreads through other body fluids like sweat, tears, saliva, breast milk etc.
Mild Fever
Muscle aches or joint aches
loss of appetite and fatigue
Dark urine and light coloured stools
unexplained weight loss and abdominal pain
vomittings, generalized itching , jaundice etc.
Transmission:
Oro-Faecal route ( Digestive tract)
Blood and through sexual intercourse
Through infected needles, sweat, saliva, tears, breast milk etc.
Prevention and control:
• Personal hygiene.
• Antiviral agents like Interferons
• Vaccinations etc.
