After the collision, the total damage to the riverside vessel was the loss of two anti-collision tires. While not a huge financial loss, the significant issue here is the danger of overtaking at high speeds in a narrow channel, creating a very strong suction force that seriously endangers surrounding vessels. Anyone working on the waterways understands that going a little faster doesn't necessarily mean a huge advantage, but a moment of carelessness can cost property, cause collisions, or even endanger lives.
