Orange and Blue, a great first strathspey to learn on the bagpipes!
If you're asked to pipe for some highland dancers, the highland fling, along with the sword dance is one of the most popular Scottish Highland dances. If you are asked to pipe for highland dancers, you will need to learn how to play a strathspey. I can't recommend Orange and Blue enough! Not only is it a very common bagpipe tune for the Highland fling, it's also a great sounding Strathspey and not too difficult for beginner and intermediate bagpipers.
In fact, Orange and Blue was the 2nd strathspey I ever learned to play on the bagpipes and I'm still enjoying it after all these years. I know you'll enjoy Orange and blue too! Let's go through it note by note over the next 8 lessons, so you can Get Orange and Blue Bagpipe Ready too!
