I decided on a whim to head out for a sunset hike on Bald Peak in Acadia National Park in Maine. I had about 30 minutes before the sunset officially occurred, and while I made it to the top just in time, I made a huge error and did not double check the headlamp that I carry in my bag. To my surprise, when it got dark in the woods, my headlamp was dead. Major fail! I had to finish the last half a mile of my hike by navigating roots, rocks, and a streambed with my cellphone. In this video you will see how poorly a cellphone light works in the woods after the sun is down (plus a gorgeous sunset!). Huge lessoned learned on this hike, and I don't regret a thing. Bald is my absolute favorite for an Acadia sunset!
