Other notes: After the drill in Emmetsburg, we all drove up to Graettinger to catch a noon whistle. Me, Connor and Dylan went to this unrecorded Screamer while everyone else was at the 10/12 port Banshee. This Screamer is completely bombarded with trees so it's very hidden, especially while the leaves are grown. Because of that, this thing was completely undiscovered until last year when the three of us recorded the Banshee. Dylan dropped one of his audio recorders at the park this is by to get an ambiance of the Banshee, and this Screamer was clearly heard, doing the exact same blast in sync with the Banshee. At first, we were pretty confused because we did not know that Graettinger had a second nooner siren, so we had to turn around to head back into town to try and find this thing. As we were coming back into town from the east, I somehow managed to spot it in the corner of my left eye. Fast forward to late March: since we were in the area and the siren was now much more visible thanks to there being no leaves on the trees with it still being winter, we seized the opportunity to get video of this thing. I didn't get directly underneath it until it already started winding down, although I'd say it probably didn't seem much different than the other two single tone Screamers I've heard. Unlike those other two however, this one doesn't have the capacitor drop during the wind down as this one is three phase. It also took a decent bit to wind down for its size, so the bearings must be pretty good in it. Unfortunately, the 10/12 Banshee's chopper did not engage on this day, as the motor only hummed. It probably just froze up from the frigid cold temperatures. I'm just glad that this Screamer still worked, so it now has a few recordings to boot. Enjoy!
