Описание: His talk “Designing Empowerment” will share with you how design can intimately affect the lives of those living in poverty and how – by better understanding the conditions of their lives – we can all move to design a better future for mankind.

Akshay Sharma divides his time between the United States and India, devoting his time and energy to utilizing design for the greater good of the human race. Akshay Sharma, an Associate Professor in Industrial Design, is passionate about creating thin interfaces in analogue as well as digital media and about using design as a catalyst for the empowerment of women. Currently, he is working on projects related to micro financing with an NGO in India; the use of cell phones for creating a more efficient process in maintaining immunization records for developing countries.
