Welcome back to the Samson Innovation Center; my name’s Ryan and today we’re going to check out the Samson M&P Pocket Comp for the Smith & Wesson Shield 9 and Shield 9 2.0.

As you’d expect, the Pocket Comp does its job very well, efficiently reducing felt recoil and minimizing muzzle rise, allowing for faster follow-up shots.

Designed to fit 1/2 x 28 threaded barrels, the Samson Pocket Comp installs in minutes without the need for any gunsmithing.
Unlike the other comps that use set screws to attach to the barrel the Samson Pocket Comp will not damage your barrel threads.
It functions with the factory recoil spring allowing for a wide range of bullet weights and velocities. We do recommend 124gr or heavier bullets. 115 grain bullets may work depending on the manufacturer and/or environmental conditions.

The Pocket Comp is machined from 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum and Mil-Spec hard coat anodized for durability.

Before beginning product installation always make sure your pistol is unloaded and clear of any ammunition.

A ½” X 28 threaded 9mm barrel is required to install the Pocket Comp. Here I have a SilencerCo barrel, but there are other brands available on the market.

The tools you’ll need are a vise with soft jaws, a torque wrench with a 3/8” hex bit and a 5/8” wrench attachment. Remove the pistol slide from the frame and install the threaded barrel. Place the assembled slide into the vise with soft jaws to hold it in place. Take caution not to over-tighten the vise. Install the thread protector onto the barrel and torque to 15 foot-pounds using the 5/8” hex wrench. Slide the Pocket Comp on the thread protector ensuring it’s fully-seated. Align with the slide and confirm it’s timed appropriately with the vents oriented at the 9, 12 and 3 o’clock positions. Tighten the three set screws to 25 inch-pounds. It’s recommended that you use medium-strength blue thread compound.
