We got a call from Kittitas County requesting a hoist rescue of a hiker who had fallen, sustaining a pretty bad leg injury. The victim managed to fashion a torniquet to help stop the bleeding but was in bad shape when we got to him. We were happy to get him out of there and to Harborview.
This video really highlights our awesome relationship with King County Medic 1. We are very lucky to have these guys on our crew. Because of them, our passengers are able to get world-class, emergency medicine on the way to the hospital.
If you're going out in the back country, please make sure that you take some supplies to fix yourself if you get seriously injured! We got to this gentleman within about 2 hours of getting called. That is plenty of time to bleed to death if you can't stop massive hemorrhaging. Take care out there!
