literally means "buns fried/cooked/steamed in water.

Pan-fried buns are a common snack in Taiwan. It is similar to pan fried dumplings, they're crisped until golden brown on the bottom. They're stuffed with lots of fillings from vegetables like leek and cabbage, thin noodles, tofu with chopped dried shrimp to juicy pork based version.
