Gamers are seldom called Athletes in India and that is primarily due to two reasons: 1. There are very few arena events happening in the country where enthusiasts buy tickets to cheer for their favourite clan. 2. The perception is that the gamers hardly go to the gym or train on the ground for them to be classified as athletes. However, is it worth it as half-skilled gamers make more money through streaming. They turn into influencers because of their social media platform presence and as the community grows, the loyal fans start donating money in the form of UPI transfers or Stars. What is more rewarding, being an influencer with ordinary gaming skills or being an athlete and winning trophies?
