As part of our Catanduanes 360 Tour, we spent our first day at Luyang Cave Park, Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel or also known as Batong Paloway in San Andres, Bato Church in Bato then we went to Mamangal Beach in Virac.

Luyang Cave is a historical cave and it served as a hiding place for locals against Moro pirates in the early years of the 18th century. The inside has enormous stalactites and stalagmites and other rock formations. From the ceilings and walls, there are numerous bats that settle in the stretch of this cave.

We went to Batong Paloway to see the Our Lady of Sorrows image that was inscribed on a piece of stone in person. The original size of this stone when it was found was only 1 1/2 cm x 2cm then gradually increasing in size. After more than one hundred years, the size increased to 4 1/2 cm x 6cm. Presently, we can see the image with our bare eyes.

Then we went to Bato Church or The Saint John the Baptist Church that was built during the Spanish era. It was built with mortar and coral limestones designed to withstand the strong storms that are experienced yearly in the island. Currently, it is the oldest church in the province that stood the test of natural calamities.

Lastly, Mamangal Beach, with its cool and shady trees and their mesmerizing fine cream-colored sand and pristine blue water. This is a favorite spot for locals to spend their day with their families and friends.
