Blacksmith Making a Folding Knife from Rusty Sprocket
In this project I transformed an old sprocket into a strong and beautiful handmade folding knife.
First I heated the sprocket in fire until it became red hot. After heating I cut the sprocket using only a chisel. Then I reheated it and used a hammer to forge the blade into shape.
Once the blade shape was completed I refined and smoothed it using a grinder to make it clean and sharp. After that I performed the heat treatment process to harden the steel making the blade strong and durable.
Next I made a wooden handle for the folding knife. I fitted brass at the front of the handle and added a brass ring at the back to enhance its strength and appearance.
Finally I assembled the folding mechanism and tested the knife. The experiment was successful and the result was a sharp durable and attractive handmade folding knife made from recycled steel.
