The European Union has been toughening up its migration policy in a bid to fend off the rise of far-right parties, with its parliament due to vote on implementing American ICE-style deportations.
Michele LeVoy, Director of the Platform for International Cooperation on Undocumented Migrants, fears the new EU plan will lead to home raids, more surveillance and racial profiling.
She fears such deportations, which are being used by ICE agents in US, may be used as a "public service tool and a punishment".
