Located in Mysuru, Devaraja market is probably the most popular market in the city. It is said to have been around since the time of Tipu Sultan and was built as a permnanet market with 800 stalls under the aegis of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar about a century ago. The market offers flowers, spices, vegetables and fruits which are bought in fresh from different parts of South India. It is sad that the market retails more than 40 varieties of Bananas alone! The market is known for being orderly, its variety of flowers and the great deals that it offers. Over the last few years, the market has also started attracting tourists though it does not offer any souvenirs and focuses only on daily essentials.
