We all love efficiency, don’t we?

Be it at work or in our personal lives, we always want to have the fastest and/or easiest way of doing things.

Teach your children that the same principle can be applied in solving math problems.

Take for example this question about a circle in the attached video.

Ask your children what the shortest method is for getting the answer to the question. Have them explore all the possibilities. Remind them not to be fixated on any one particular method.

We know that all roads lead to Rome, but when it comes to answering circle questions, the more unnecessary steps are used, the higher the chances of making careless mistakes.

On a similar note, do your children know the alternative way of finding the area of a square, other than the method of multiplying two sides of the square?
