"Black Dahlia" - Jim Hawkins & Ariel Ft. Eric (16+)

Story:
Jim comes across Prince Eric and a mermaid after a shipwreck. Prince Eric asks Jim to seek out the mermaid and bring her back to him. Jim reluctantly agrees. He sets off to a distant island where mermaids reside and he finds Ariel; the mermaid that saved the prince. Jim retrieves her and sails back to the kingdom with her. The two become close and form a romantic relationship during their voyage; however, it all comes to an end when they arrive at the palace. Ariel is prepped to meet the prince and Jim is left to just watch them interact sometimes. Other times, Jim and Ariel would sneak out whenever they had the chance and spend time together, or they would acknowledge one another from a distance. One day, Jim makes it clear that he cannot watch her be with the prince anymore and not have a life with him, so Ariel suggests they run away together that night. Midnight comes and goes and Ariel never makes it to their meet point. Heartbroken, Jim takes the hint and watches Ariel and the Prince get married the vey next day. The two go their separate ways for almost year, when Jim happens to be on a ship with the Prince and Ariel and their baby. Jim is heartbroken all over again and decides to end his life somewhere within the ship. That's when he hears someone enter one of the rooms, whom happens to be Ariel and her baby. This is when Jim overhears Ariel reminisce about how she ended up marrying Prince Eric, which is while she was on a date with Eric, he proposed to her, but she rejected him. Prince Eric figured that she was in love with Jim, so he threatened Jim's life if she refused to marry him. Ariel only agreed to marry Eric to save Jim's life. After realizing the truth, Jim decides to end his life so that Ariel would be free. Shortly as his death, Ariel takes the chance to finally runaway and leave Eric and her daughter behind.
In the epilogue, Melody is curious about her mother, but Eric refuses to talk about her. Melody eventually finds a way to discover more about herself and her mother with the help of a mysterious locket. She finds the mermaid island and King Triton explains that her mother was a mermaid and Melody could be one too if she wishes. Melody agrees and becomes a mermaid. Years go by and history repeats itself with Melody rescuing Prince Charming and being spotted by Sinbad.

Editor's Notes:
Ariel is able to transform between mermaid and human form at will. This was discovered during her voyage with Jim. Jim did explain to Ariel that he was retrieving her for the prince, but they fell in love anyway. I tried showing the past using different colors or tints to express who's past is what, such as Jim's being the blue tint and Ariel's being the green tint. The black and white tint is the scene of Eric threatening Jim's life.
