Airtel’s Q1 FY27 results provide the first meaningful evidence. Its postpaid subscriber base reached 30 million after adding 1.05 million users during the June 2026 quarter—a 3.61% quarter-on-quarter increase and the highest absolute quarterly addition in the period tracked since September 2023.

This is approximately 0.24 million higher than the 0.81 million subscribers added in the preceding quarter. It indicates that Fast Lane may have had some impact—but where did these additional subscribers come from? Did customers upgrade from Airtel prepaid, or did Airtel gain them from competitors, particularly Vodafone Idea?
