Описание: This is my entry to the Indie Film Movie Contest 2026 on the captivating and poetic short animation film of Lorenzo Fresta.

COMPOSER's NOTE

For Walter, I chose a poetic and introspective musical approach to mirror the emotional arc of the film. Rather than emphasizing action or comedy, I aimed to support the story from the inside — treating the score as Walter’s inner journey as he tries to protect his dandelion, discovers countless others, and ultimately ascends into the sky carried by the wind.

The piece is built around cinematic orchestral writing, blending delicate textures, evolving harmonies, and dissonances that reflect both fragility and transformation. I incorporated ethereal choir and light, airy orchestration to evoke the dreamlike atmosphere of Walter floating among the seeds. Moments of tension are expressed through harmonic friction and orchestral swell, gradually resolving into more luminous passages as Walter finds release and acceptance.

My musical choices were guided by the symbolism of the dandelion: fragility, letting go, and renewal. The score moves from restraint to expansion — from a single, vulnerable line to a wide sonic landscape — echoing Walter’s experience as he goes from protecting one flower to witnessing millions drifting freely in the sky.

The intention was to create a score that feels emotional, sensitive, and transformative, amplifying the poetic nature of the film while leaving space for the animation’s visual storytelling to breathe.
