Light Options During Vegetative Stage

Fluorescent Lights
While this may be beneficial for the propagation phase, overall the PAR readings are not able to meet the demands of a growing plant

HPS
While commonly thought of as a flowering light, it can be used for the Veg phase.

CMH
Quality choice for Veg phase
Close to spectrum of natural sunlight and produces UV light
Efficient PAR production per watt
Run cool compared to other HID lights
Bulb has a long life span (20,000 hr @ 80%)
You should purchase everything as a unit (even if it costs a little more) since they can have specific requirements

LEP
Due to the cost of LEP’s and competitive CMH’s entering the market place the slight advantages they provide are over shadowed by the cost.

LED
Great overall option for all phases of growth
All LED’s are not the same, there is currently great variance
Quality LED lights that have all of the benefits are often cost prohibitive.
